Top Interview Questions Which Were Designed To Trap You

For the long-term unemployed or those workers looking for a change, getting an interview in today’s market may feel like a win in itself. But once you’re in the door, interviewers often put you through an obstacle course of deceptive questions with double meanings or hidden agendas.
It’s important to think of tricky questions and come up with answers that will make you shine. Here are the  10 tricky interview questions you should always be prepared to answer.
1. Question about your Preparation for this Interview.
This is a great opportunity to show how much you know about the industry, company, department or interviewer but also to show your organizational skills. This will reveal how you go about preparing for interviews which could show the interviewer how you will work with deadlines, prepare for meetings with clients and how thorough you might be with assignments.
2. Why have you been out of work for so long?
The way it’s worded is naturally designed to test your resilience. The key is not to take the bait and just answer the intent of the question in a calm, factual manner. The hiring manager wants be assured that you possess initiative even when unemployed, as this drive and tenacity will translate well in a corporate setting. Sample response: “I have been interviewing steadily, but want to find the ideal fit before I jump in and give my typical 110%,”.
3. Describe Yourself in One Word?
This question can be a challenge, particularly early on in the interview, because you don’t really know what personality type the manager is seeking. Most employers today are seeking team players that are levelheaded under pressure, upbeat, honest, reliable, and dedicated.
4. If you could change one thing about your last job, what would it be?
Can you vocalize your problems in a professional manner and come to a diplomatic understanding with your coworkers / bosses? This question tests whether you let problems stew and boil over, or whether you can address them rationally with the benefit of a positive work environment in mind.
5. What bugs you about coworkers or bosses?
Don’t fall into this trap. You might get along pleasantly with the interviewer, but this question is meant to see how you get along with others. Kennedy suggests reflecting for a brief time but not sharing any stories or anything specific. Use this as an opportunity to compliment bosses and past coworkers. This will show your positivity and ability to work well with others.
6. Where Would You Really Like to Work?
The real agenda for this question is assurance that you aren’t applying to every job opening in sight. you should never mention another company or job title because the point of every interview is to convince the interviewer this is the job you want and you are perfect for it. Use this as an opportunity to share what you know about the company and why you are a perfect fit.
7. Can you describe how you solved a work or school problem?
This is a common interview question, but one that catches many people off-guard. Do you take responsibility for your failings? Or do you deny you’ve ever made a mistake? Everyone messes up, it’s all about how you handle it. Kennedy suggests mentioning a single, small, well-intentioned mistake and quickly following up with an important lesson you learned from the experience.
8. What would you do if you won $5 million tomorrow?
Most people know this question aims to trap candidates for whom work is merely a means to an end, rather than a passion to which they will be dedicated. But it’s also facetious to say you’d stay in your current position if you were to be blessed with such fortunes. It’s perfectly acceptable to say you’d start your own company, charity or project to further your personal development. This question really gets at whether you’re naturally inclined to work, so make sure those imaginary piles of cash would enable some form of future productivity.
9. How does this position compare with others you’re applying for?
They’re basically asking: “Are you applying for other jobs?” “The hiring manager is first trying to figure out how active you are in your job search,” If you say, “This is the only job I’m applying for,” that’ll send up a red flag. Very few job applicants only apply to the one single job — so they may assume you’re being dishonest. However, if you openly speak about other positions you’re pursuing, and you speak favorably about them, the hiring manager may worry that you’ll end up taking another job elsewhere, and they won’t want to waste their time. “Speaking negatively about other jobs or employers isn’t good either,”
10. Explain ________ (your industry) to your nephew / grandmother / totally oblivious client.
Are you a good communicator? As a developer, can you explain how the newest product feature operates in a way that the marketing team can process, so they can in turn pitch it to customers? If you can’t explain your job duties in plain English, you probably aren’t well-versed enough in the field to effectively communicate your needs to the coworkers you will interact with on a daily basis.

Do’s and Don’ts Of Body Language in Interviews

You could be saying how great you are, but your body could be giving your true feelings away. The expression “it’s not what you say, it’s what you do” is never more true than during job interviews. Your body language can have a significant impact on how you’re perceived, and so you have to be aware of it from the moment you step through the door. That’s right, you’re being judged even before you’ve uttered your first word.
Pay attention to your interview body language – it plays a critical role in determining how you come across in the job interview. Here’s some expert advice on Do’s and Don’ts of Body Language in Interviews.
Do’s :
  • Sit properly. Sit upright but in a relaxed fashion leaning slightly forward at about a 10 to 15 degree angle towards the interviewer. This sends the message that you are an interested and involved candidate.
  • Show your enthusiasm by keeping an interested expression. Nod and make positive gestures in moderation to avoid looking like a bobble head.
  • Subtly, of course. Touching your fingertips together suggests authority but, as with all things, use it in moderation.Keeping your palms facing up is a sign of openness and honesty, so keep them in your lap. Try not to clench your fists or wave your hands around to make a point, it will make you seem nervous and unpredictable. And please don’t bite your nails. You’ll look nervous and it’s really distracting
  • Place both feet on the floor. Crossing feet at the ankles or placing them both flat on the floor sends a message of confidence and professionalism. Jiggling or moving the legs creates an irritating distraction and indicates nervousness. Resting an ankle on the opposite knee looks arrogant and too casual, crossing the legs high up appears defensive.
  • Maintain direct eye contact. Keeping direct eye contact with the interviewer indicates active listening and interest. Eyes that dart around suggest dishonesty. Looking down gives the impression of low self-esteem.
  • Smile and nod where appropriate, and laugh when the interviewer does. You want to show you have a personality and you’re paying attention to what’s being said.
  • Interruptions can happen. If they do, refrain from staring at your interviewer while they address their immediate business and motion your willingness to leave if they need privacy.
Don’ts :
  • Rub the back of your head or neck. Even if you really do just have a cramp in your neck, these gestures make you look disinterested.
  • Sitting hunched forward, or lounging with arms and legs everywhere has the effect of looking a little too relaxed. You don’t want to sit there tightly clutching your fists in your lap, but you also don’t want to portray a casual, not really bothered attitude.
  • Don’t Touch your face. People who play with their hair or excessively touch or rub their noses can seem dishonest and untrustworthy.
  • Don’t cross your arms. Folding arms across the chest suggests a defensive type of position. It sends the message that the candidate is feeling threatened and ill-at-ease and is shutting the interviewer out. It can also send the message that the candidate does not agree with or buy into what the interviewer is saying.
  • Tapping your fingertips in the arm rest or jiggling your leg up or down. It’s a sign of boredom and impatience.
  • Stare back blankly. This is a look people naturally adapt when they are trying to distance themselves.
  • Don’t overdo direct eye contact; too much contact without breaks can make the other person extremely uncomfortable and can be suggestive that you are domineering.
Best Of Luck.

10 Things Not To Do During Interview

10 Things Not To Do During Interview

During Interview we have lot of Questions in our Mind Interview Process, Technical Questions, Academics etc., and here some actions what you should avoid doing in an interview so as not to damage your chances of success.
1) Showing Up Unprepared :
First of all…don’t make the mistake of going into an interview without researching the industry, the company, the boss, and as much as you can about the specific position. and Make sure to bring copies of your resume and ask the employer or technical recruiters whether they would like one.
2) Showing Up Late :
Unless you have a very good excuse and ring ahead to rearrange, turning up late for an appointment will not endear you to any employer.Having said that, obviously circumstances arise that are out of everyone’s control:  train/bus delays, traffic, a flat tire or car troubles (for real – not just the typical excuse). It is better if you show up to the venue a little earlier which may saves you from being disqualified.
3) Dressing and Appearance :
You only get one chance to make a first impression.  Take some basic steps to ensure you’re presentable for your interview.  Brush your hair, shave, use deodorant and make sure you’re buttoned up for your meeting.
4) Sitting While Shaking Interviewer’s Hand :
Remaining seated is a slight sign of disrespect and even laziness. When the employer or IT recruiters enter the room, stand up and shake their hands.
5) Sitting in Chair Before Offering :
It is Another subtle sign of disrespect, Don’t dare to sit without permission. Here in particular situation its common courtesy to wait until you’re shown a seat to sit down. Also, avoid slouching or putting your feet anywhere but firmly on the ground.
6) Clock Watching :
It will be annoying, if you are constantly a clock watcher.Don’t do it – especially in an interview. It’s distracting, annoying and rude to the interviewer. If you’re serious about the job you need to show it by giving it your full attention.
7) Asking Questions :
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You should come prepared with a list of questions to ask before any interview. Interviewers like people who want to learn, And actually like people who challenge. So, If additional questions come to mind during the meeting, simply write them down and ask when appropriate.
8) Badmouth :
As in society, people gravitate to those who remain positive.  There is no room for negativity in an interview.  If you had a bad “break up” with your last position, don’t dwell on it.  Spin the positive experience that you gained from the technical job.  If you didn’t like a former boss, simply state that you didn’t see eye to eye.  Take the high road; don’t throw anyone under the bus.
9) Don’t Use Clichés :
I’ve heard them all. “I’m a problem-solver.” “I’m a real team player.” “I’m a perfectionist.” I don’t need to hear general descriptions of how great you are (especially those clichés). Avoid such cliches in interviews.
10) Avoid Chit Chat :
Never forget that this is an interview for a job. Be professional. Be business-like. This is not the forum to share intimate details of your personal life, the ups and downs of your marriage, or your recent break-up. It is the forum to discuss why you want the job and will be an asset to the company
